Halloween workout....

Here is a future athlete only she doesn't know it yet. Halloween night, I love it, seeing all the kids dress up, especially the real little ones that can barely get up the front step....all that effort for some candy, no worries, gotta love it.
Had an amazing skate workout today considering the pulled groin which today felt not bad. I will actually start playing hockey competitively this week. So, I skated speed skating style for 7 minutes simulating 5,000m, then chilled for 5 minutes and did it again for another 7 minutes but this time weighted.....feel the burn!! Then I did some hockey starts left and right side, then some speed skating starts, all A-okay.
Wait a sec.....some kids at the door, too funny.
The shoulder is coming along too. I have started to lift a little heavier now and can actually sleep on my right side.
Lot of stuff happened in the month of October.....short of getting into anything specific, it is good to reflect on a night like this Halloween night....the innocence of childhood where you don't think about anything but where the next candy is coming from....now that is important!!
Trick or treat folks.....

Let's just say I am safer on the bike...

So I went skating again yesterday, slapped on my ankle weights, and skated straight for 7 minutes, then took them off and skated right away for another 4 minutes, speedskating style.
Then, I worked on my starts but on the 4th start of ten, chop, chop, chop, chop, chop, pah-toing.......out goes my right groin....what a bad and eerie feeling that is!!
Of all my years of hockey and sport, I have never pulled a groin....I know I know, you're all saying 'I'm getting older'....yes but you gotta understand how fast I took off from the start he he.
Anyways, it sucks bad cause I am ready to start playing hockey....the shoulder is feeling better and I believe I am healing fast.
My right side has not been lucky....in July, I nailed my right elbow speedskating, in August, I sprained my right ankle playing football, in September, I got my shoulder surgery, and now, in October, I pulled my groin.....well, only two months left this year which means two more body parts...probably on the right side of course!!
Even though I hate being injured, I am still highly motivated and can't wait to be healed up and train specific.

What a workout....

So today, after paying my $2.50 entrance fee, I went out for a public skate in the morning. Now usually I go with my daughter, my workout partner, but she had school today and plus, I wanted to try out some 'weighted skating' today.
I put 5lbs weights around each foot and then I skated around speedskating style, even though I had my comfortable Grafs on........man what a workout!!
I skated and stayed in speedskating crouch for over 6 minutes which equivalates to the 5,000m race and holy smackeroos, the legs were getting giggly, the skates were starting to wobble, the burn in my thighs almost lit my long johns on fire, but I did it and it felt good!!
I might even play my whole hockey season with these on. Anyways, I bought the weights for when my speed skates come in so I can train in that fashion....always train harder!!
By the way, I found out yesterday that the Greek federation will be updating my Bobsled license in case they need a spare.....how 'bout that!! Last year at this time, I was coming back from my track recce in Europe....time really does fly!!
Stay tuned.....
